AIRVOD has established strategic partnerships in various regions to run and assist
with the ongoing field operations and ground support.
There are three main areas of field operations:
Battery Charging
- Battery chargers stored in strategically placed hubs on the ground.
- Spare batteries are charged on the ground.
- Aircraft touches down, and the batteries are swapped out (players never leave the aircraft).
- Used batteries are brought back to the hub for charging.
- 2-4 hours to charge time (depending on level of usage).
- Battery chargers have LED indicators to show the status of the battery.
Content Upload
- AIRVOD prepares, integrates and tests the content at our facility.
- Content Loading Stations are stored in strategically placed hubs on the ground.
- AIRVOD ship the content, on a removable hard disk, to the Content Loading Hubs.
- Hard disk image is loaded onto the servers.
- Players remain in their trolleys and are connected to the server via Power Over Ethernet (POE) cables.
- Upload is initialized and commences (12GB per hour transfer rate).
- Simultaneously, DIS usage statistics are retrieved from each player and downloaded to the server.
- “Power On” LED will flash green to indicate a successful upload.
- Upload complete, players go back into service.

Repair and Maintenance
- A percentage of spare players stored on the ground.
- Crew identify unserviceable (US) player onboard.
- Player returns to service provider for analysis.
- Replacement player taken from spares pool and returned to aircraft.
- Minor faults are repaired by service provider on the ground.
- For other faults, players are sent to AIRVOD’s locally based repair center.
- Player is repaired and sent back into service.
- Detailed log of the repair work carried out is stored and sent to customer upon request.
