Systems Engineer, Aircraft Cabin Systems and IFE

The position of Systems Engineer, Aircraft Cabin Systems and IFE, is a mid-level engineering position reporting to the Manager of Aircraft Systems Engineering.

Airvod IFE systems make use of a distributed computing architecture using both wired and wireless cabin networks. Hardware and software components are being developed based on reusable building blocks that can be assembled to meet specific airline entertainment requirements.

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing and documenting In Flight Entertainment systems within an Object-Oriented Systems Engineering (OOSE) environment. The applicant is expected to be thoroughly familiar with the INCOSE standards for systems engineering and regulatory standards in support of aircraft installation and certification.

The Systems Engineer will participate in the formalization and integration of engineering development processes into Airvod’s business structure. In particular, the position will require the definition of standard Airvod processes and procedures associated with aircraft requirements capture, specification, test procedures and documentation leading to aircraft certification.

The position of Systems Engineer will involve international travel as the engineer will work with multi-national engineering teams, including systems engineers and component engineers in India and Germany, aircraft seat manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, aircraft installation teams in Canada and airline systems engineers in diverse locations.

The Systems Engineer will participate in ARINC committees to define industry standards for avionics and cabin equipment. The Systems Engineer will also be called upon to provide technical support to the Airvod Sales/Marketing organization.

The applicant should be a degreed engineer, preferably with a Systems Engineering certificate. The applicant should have a strong background in aircraft system design and certification requirements for cabin systems.

It is envisioned that the Systems Engineer position can grow into an engineering management position within Airvod Systems Engineering.

The Systems Engineering position will be located at Airvod facilities in Dublin.

Systems Engineer and Systems Integration Facility Manager

The position of Systems Engineer, Systems Integration Facility, is a mid-level engineering position reporting to the Manager of Systems Engineering.

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing the new systems integration laboratory (SIL) for In Flight Entertainment. The SIL facility will include aircraft signal simulations and will be configurable to emulate a wide variety of airline configurations of air transport and business aviation aircraft.

The SIL will be used for software verification testing, customer acceptance testing and content verification. The SIL will be integrated with configuration management databases to allow specific airline software and content configurations to be loaded and tested.

The Systems Engineer will work with the various engineering organizations to capture and document require SIL functionality, design the facility, manage offshore test equipment engineering teams to create SIL components and create the facility.

The SIL is expected to be a working laboratory.

The Systems Engineer will also be responsible for designing and implementing limited subsets of the SIL at supplier and customer locations for development and acceptance testing.

The position of Systems Engineer may involve some international travel as the engineer will work with multi-national engineering teams, including systems engineers and component engineers in India and Germany, aircraft installation teams in Canada and airline systems engineers in diverse locations.

The applicant should be a degreed engineer, preferably with a Systems Engineering certificate. The applicant should have a strong background in test equipment and test environments for aircraft systems.

It is envisioned that the Systems Engineer position can grow into an engineering management position within Airvod Systems Engineering.

The Systems Engineering position will be located at Airvod facilities in Dublin.
